“Brushstrokes for Change – The story of Mary Ella Dignam and the Artists Who Followed“, Maggie Broda’s debut book is now published and available for purchase.
This is a brief biography of one of the most influential yet seldom celebrated Canadian artist, who was also a major player in the fight for women’s rights in the between 1880 to 1938.
Through this book, Maggie celebrates the legacy of the Women’s Art Association of Canada, with a spotlight on its founder, Mary Ella Dignam, and the lives and work of over 37 contemporary artists.
This project is a labour of love and historical preservation, blending archival research, biography, and visual storytelling.
